Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a four-vehicle collision this morning in Union County that resulted in injuries to three drivers and two passengers.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 5:50 am, a tractor-trailer driven by a 60-year-old Jacksonville man was traveling east on SR-121 approaching the intersection to CR-231, and a pickup truck driven by a 19-year-old Orange Park man was traveling on CR-231 northbound stopped at the intersection to SR-121. A van driven by a 39-year-old Raiford man was in the left turn lane of SR-121 westbound stopped at the intersection to CR-231, while a second van driven by a 30-year-old Keystone Heights man was behind the other van.
As they approached, the pickup truck driver received a green light and entered into the intersection, then the tractor trailer entered into the intersection colliding with the pickup in a T-bone style collision.
The two colliding vehicles were redirected and crashed into the first van, which was then pushed into the second van.
According to the report, the pickup driver suffered serious injuries in the collision, while the two van drivers and two passengers (a 41-year-old Raiford man and a 36-year-old Raiford man), sustained minor injuries.
The FHP did not release the names of either driver involved in the collision.
