Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a collision in Seminole County this morning between a pedestrian and a pickup truck that resulted in the death of the pedestrian.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 7:51 pm, a 57-year-old Sanford man driving a 2014 Nissan NV van was stopped, facing south in a private residential driveway off of Orange Boulevard north of Terra Bona Court. The driver began reversing his vehicle north and failed to observe an 8-year-old boy behind the vehicle.
As a result, the vehicle struck the pedestrian.
After the collision, the driver transported the child to Advent Health Lake Mary Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
The FHP did not release the names of the driver or the pedestrian involved in the collision.
The crash remains under investigation.
