Breaking News Overnight: Driver dies after a three-vehicle collision in Seminole County

Posted

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a three-vehicle collision in Seminole County last night that resulted in the death of a driver.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 9:27 pm, a 2020 Tesla Model 3 driven by a 43-year-old Deltona man was stopped eastbound in the center lane of Interstate 4 east of mile marker 98.

At the same time, a 2018 International Semi-Truck and a 2024 Peterbilt Semi-Truck were traveling eastbound on Interstate 4 in the center lane approaching the stopped vehicle. The third vehicle was ahead of the second vehicle.

As they advanced, the third vehicle changed lanes (to the outside lane), which caused the second vehicle to veer to the left to avoid a collision with the first vehicle. However, it was unable to do so, and it crashed into the rear of the first vehicle.

After the crash, the impact caused the second vehicle to run off the roadway onto the shoulder and strike a guardrail and overturn.

The second vehicle also ran off the roadway after impact, striking the third vehicle's trailer.

The driver of the first vehicle was pronounced deceased on the scene.

The drivers of the second and third vehicles did not report any injuries to the FHP.

The FHP did not release the names of the drivers involved in the collision.

The crash remains under investigation.
