Posted

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle crash in Columbia County this morning that resulted in the death of a driver and passenger.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 11:20 am, a passenger sedan driven by a 15-year-old Brandon girl was traveling west on County Road 240, approaching the intersection at US Highway 441. At the same time, a pickup truck with a trailer driven by a 20-year-old Lake Butler man was traveling north on US HWY 441 approaching the intersection at County Road 240.

As they approached, the sedan driver failed to yield the right of way to the pickup truck, which resulted in the front of the pickup striking the left side of the sedan in an angular collision.

The pickup driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local area hospital.

The sedan driver and a passenger (a 66-year-old Fort White man) were both pronounced deceased on the scene.

This investigation remains ongoing at this time.

FHP did not release the names of the drivers or the passenger involved in the collision.
