Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a single-vehicle collision last night in Dixie County that resulted in the death of the driver.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 9:25 pm, a single-vehicle crash occurred in Dixie County. Witnesses stated it appeared as if the vehicle had lost control due to the inclement weather and wet roadway.
After losing control, the vehicle struck the guardrail in the center median, then re-directed, overturning, leaving the roadway to the right.
The driver (a 38-year-old Crawfordville woman) and one passenger (a 12-year-old male from Crawfordville) were pronounced deceased on the scene. Another passenger (a 14-year-old girl from Crawfordville) was transported to UF Health with serious injuries.
This case is still under investigation.
The FHP did not release the name of the driver or passengers involved in the crash.
