Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a three-vehicle collision in Seminole County this morning that resulted in the death of a driver and injuries to five others.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 3:57 am, a 2012 Honda Accord driven by a 36-year-old Orlando man was traveling eastbound in the westbound center lane on Interstate 4 at mile marker 94.
At the same time, a 2025 Honda Odyssey driven by a 35-year-old Grand Rapids, MI man was traveling westbound in the center lane of I-4 at mile marker 94, and a 2007 Peterbilt Semi Tractor-Trailer driven by a 58-year-old Port Orange man was traveling westbound in the outside lane of I-4 at mile marker 94.
As they approached, the first vehicle was traveling the wrong way. As a result, it collided head-on with the second vehicle. The impact caused the first vehicle to run off the roadway and collide with the median guardrail.
After the collision, the second vehicle ran off the roadway and collided with the third vehicle.
The first driver was transported to AdventHealth Altamonte Springs and pronounced deceased. The driver of the second vehicle and four passengers were transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center with injuries ranging from serious to minor.
The driver of the third vehicle reported no injuries to the FHP.
The crash remains under investigation.
The FHP did not release the names of the drivers or passengers involved in the collision.
