Breaking News Overnight: Single-vehicle collision in Columbia County kills driver

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a single-vehicle crash in Columbia County last night that resulted in the death of the driver.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 10:10 pm, a 52-year-old Lake City man driving a sport utility vehicle was traveling west on County Road 242 in Columbia County.
The vehicle drifted off the road onto the south shoulder, struck a tree, and came to final rest against the tree.
The driver of the SUV was pronounced deceased on scene.
FHP did not release the name of the driver involved in the collision.
