Breaking News Overnight: Single-vehicle collision in Brevard County kills driver

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a single-vehicle collision in Brevard County last night, resulting in the driver's death.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 10:46 pm Sunday, a 2004 Ford Exhibition SUV driven by a 22-year-old Edgewater man was traveling westbound on West Jay Jay Road east of Hallum Avenue in Mims.

For an unknown reason, the driver abruptly turned into a gravel parking lot and lost control of the vehicle, which rotated sideways, struck a sign, overturned, and struck a tree.

The impact caused the driver to be ejected from the vehicle.

The driver was transported to Parrish Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased.

The crash remains under investigation.
