A 21-year-old Orlando man was killed Friday night after he was struck by a car while attempting to cross Gatlin Avenue in Orange County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at approximately 10:38 p.m. at the intersection of Gatlin Avenue and Evander Drive.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, an 18-year-old Orlando man was driving a 2014 BMW 535i westbound on Gatlin Avenue, just west of Evander Drive, when the crash occurred.
Investigators said the pedestrian was walking from the south shoulder of the roadway and attempting to cross to the north shoulder. Troopers said he was not using a marked crosswalk and entered the direct path of the BMW, which struck him.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin has been notified, according to the crash report.
The 18-year-old driver was wearing a seat belt, was not injured in the collision, and remained at the scene.
The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the fatal crash.
