Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a collision last night in Brevard County that resulted in the death of a pedestrian.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 11:50 pm, a 38-year-old Cocoa man driving a 2006 Chevrolet Express truck was traveling westbound on State Road 520 (King Street) east of Clearlake Road in the outside lane.
At the same time, a 68-year-old Cocoa man was walking on the north shoulder of SR-520 east of Clearlake Road. For unknown reasons, the pedestrian began walking in a southerly direction and entered the truck's direct path. As a result, the truck hit the pedestrian, who was pronounced deceased on the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
The FHP did not release the name of the driver or the pedestrian involved in the collision.
