Breaking News Overnight: Pedestrian hit and killed by pickup truck in Lake County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a collision in Lake County this morning that resulted in the death of a pedestrian.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 12:50 am, a 38-year-old Apopka woman driving a 20127 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck was traveling southbound on Sorrento Road north of Adair Avenue.

At the same time, a 54-year-old Sorrento man was walking south in the southbound travel lane on Plymouth Sorrento Road north of Adair Avenue in the direct path of the vehicle. As a result, the vehicle struck the pedestrian.

The pedestrian was transported to AdventHealth Apopka and pronounced deceased. The driver reported no injuries to the FHP.

This crash remains under investigation.

The FHP did not release the names of the driver or the pedestrian.
