Breaking News Overnight: Pedestrian hit and killed by pickup truck in Columbia County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a collision in Columbia County last night that resulted in the death of a pedestrian.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 8:28 pm, a Ford F-350 pickup truck driven by a 37-year-old Lake City man was traveling north on US Highway 441 near NW Quinten Street.
At the same time, a 54-year-old Lake City woman was in the north travel lane of US Highway 441 and the immediate path of the pickup. The front left of the pickup struck the pedestrian.
The pickup driver completed a U-turn before coming to a controlled stop in the center continuous left turn lane of US Highway 441.
The pedestrian was pronounced deceased on the scene.
This investigation is ongoing at this time.
The FHP did not release the name of the driver or pedestrian involved in the collision.
