Breaking News Overnight: Palm Coast woman killed after a single-vehicle crash in Flagler County

A 29-year-old Palm Coast woman was killed Friday night in a single-vehicle crash along U.S. 1 in Flagler County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred at approximately 9:35 pm, south of Sawmill Trace.

According to investigators, the woman was driving a red Chevrolet Impala southbound in the outside lane when, for unknown reasons, she lost control of the vehicle. The sedan veered off the roadway and entered the center median, where it struck a guardrail on its left side.

The vehicle continued traveling south within the median before colliding with a concrete embankment, authorities said.

Flagler County Fire Rescue responded to the scene and pronounced the driver deceased.

The woman was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, according to the report.

U.S. 1 in the area was temporarily closed for several hours during the investigation, but has since reopened.

The crash remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.

The FHP did not release the name of the driver involved in the collision.
