Posted

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision in Lake County this last night that resulted in the death of a driver.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 11:40 p.m., a 2020 Audi A3 driven by a 17-year-old male resident of Groveland was traveling southbound on State Road 19 south of Arrowtree Boulevard.

At the same time, a 2013 Ford Mustang driven by a 30-year-old Dunnellon man was traveling northbound on State Road 19 approaching Arrowtree Boulevard.

As they approached, the first vehicle's driver veered into the northbound lane in the direct path of the second vehicle. As a result, the left side of the Audi struck the left side of the Mustang. Due to this impact, the second vehicle ran off the roadway to the right and collided with a ditch.

The driver of the first vehicle and a passenger (a 17-year-old female Groveland resident) were both transported to South Lake Hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the second vehicle was pronounced deceased at the crash scene.

This crash remains under investigation.

The FHP did not release the names of the drivers or passengers involved in the collision.
