Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a single-vehicle collision last night in Hernando County that resulted in the death of the driver and injuries to two others.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 11:26 pm., a Kia Forte, driven by a 30-year-old Homosassa man, was traveling westbound on West Riverwood Drive. 

West of West Notch Path, the driver lost control of the vehicle, which departed the roadway and collided with a tree. 

The driver was ejected from the vehicle and suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash. 

Two passengers, a 31-year-old Ocala man and a 34-year-old Troy, Pennsylvania man, traveling in the vehicle suffered serious injuries and were transported to an area hospital. 

The FHP did not release the names of the driver or passengers involved in the crash.
