One person is dead after a crash involving two semitrailers on Interstate 95 in Volusia County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Troopers responded to the crash at approximately 2:48 a.m. in the southbound lanes near mile marker 276 in Ormond Beach.
One fatality was confirmed at the scene. FHP did not immediately release the person’s identity or provide information about whether anyone else was injured.
The sequence of events leading to the collision remained under investigation.
FHP reported that the crash blocked the southbound lanes of I-95. Traffic was being directed off the interstate at the exit ramp near mile marker 278.
Motorists traveling through the area should seek an alternate route and expect delays. Drivers should confirm current road conditions before traveling because the closure could change as the investigation and cleanup progress.
