A motorcyclist was killed and a second rider injured after both motorcycles left Innovation Way early Sunday morning in Orange County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at approximately 1:41 am near the intersection of Innovation Way and State Road 434, also known as South Alafaya Trail.
According to the FHP, a 45-year-old Haines City man was operating a 2015 Yamaha FZ-09 north on Innovation Way alongside a 2022 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14 operated by a 34-year-old Orlando man.
Both motorcycles were traveling above the posted speed limit when the riders failed to negotiate a curve south of South Alafaya Trail, the crash report stated. The motorcycles left the roadway and struck a curb, throwing both riders.
The Haines City man then struck a fence and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Orlando man suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to AdventHealth East Orlando.
Both riders were wearing helmets, according to the FHP.
The crash remains under investigation.
