From the Florida Highway Patrol
Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision last night in Orange County that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 9:38 pm, a 2007 GMC Arcadia sport utility vehicle driven by a 38-year-old Orlando man was traveling westbound on Valencia College Lane approaching the intersection of Short Pine Circle.
At the same time, a 2010 Yamaha FZ6R motorcycle driven by a 27-year-old Tampa man was traveling eastbound on Valencia College Lane, approaching Short Pine Circle.
As they approached, the SUV driver attempted to make a left turn to travel south on Short Pine Circle and entered the direct path of the motorcycle. As a result, the SUV struck the motorcycle.
The SUV driver did not report any injuries to the FHP and remained on-scene.
The motorcyclist was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center and pronounced deceased.
This crash remains under investigation.
The FHP did not release the names of the driver or motorcyclist involved in the collision.
