A 33-year-old Orlando man died after an SUV turned into the path of his motorcycle near Interstate 75 in Marion County Monday evening, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The collision threw the rider from his motorcycle, and he was pronounced dead upon arrival at a hospital.
The crash occurred at approximately 7:30 p.m. Oct. 26 on County Road 484, just west of the I-75 overpass. A 42-year-old man from Great Neck, New York, was driving an SUV westbound while the motorcyclist was traveling eastbound.
According to FHP, the SUV driver attempted to turn left onto the southbound entrance ramp to I-75, violating the motorcyclist’s right of way. The front of the motorcycle struck the SUV’s right side in a T-bone collision.
According to the report, the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet. His next of kin had been notified.
The SUV driver, who was wearing a seat belt, was not injured. The report did not identify either driver by name or provide information about charges.
