Breaking News Overnight: Motorcyclist dies after two-vehicle collision in Brevard County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision last night in Brevard County that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 7:11 pm, a 64-year-old Merritt Island woman driving a 201 Toyota Sienna van was traveling northbound on Courtenay Parkway, approaching the intersection of Duval Street in the left turn lane.

At the same time, a 21-year-old Cocoa man riding a 2005 Suzuki GSX1300R motorcycle was traveling southbound on Courtenay Parkway, approaching Duval Street in the outside lane.

As it approached, the first driver attempted a left turn and entered the motorcycle's path, and the two vehicles collided.

The impact threw the rider from the motorcycle.

The van driver suffered minor injuries, but the motorcyclist was transported to Cape Canaveral Hospital and pronounced deceased.

The crash remains under investigation.

The FHP did not release the names of the driver or motorcyclist involved in the crash.
