Posted

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision last night in Volusia County that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 9:16 p.m., a 2024 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by a 32-year-old Daytona Beach man and a 2024 GMC Sierra pickup truck hauling a boat trailer driven by a 37-year-old DeLeon Springs man were traveling westbound on US-192 (International Speedway Boulevard) just west of Educators Road in the outside lane.

The motorcycle was behind the pickup truck.

As it approached, the motorcyclist failed to observe the pickup and collided with the attached boat trailer, which caused him to run off the roadway onto the grassy median.

The motorcyclist was pronounced deceased at the crash scene.

The pickup driver reported no injuries to the FHP.

The crash remains under investigation.

The FHP did not release the names of the driver or motorcyclist involved in the collision.
