A 25-year-old Kissimmee man was killed early Friday after his car drifted into an active construction zone and struck a parked construction truck on State Road 417 in Seminole County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The fatal crash occurred at approximately 12:43 am on northbound State Road 417 near mile marker 39, just north of Aloma Avenue.
According to FHP, the man was driving a 2022 Acura ILX northbound in the outside lane when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle drifted into a lane closure within an active construction zone. The Acura then struck the rear of a parked 2024 Ford F-650 construction drill truck positioned in the closed lane.
The driver of the Acura was pronounced dead at the scene. No information about the construction truck driver was released, and no injuries involving the work vehicle were reported.
The Florida Highway Patrol said the cause of the Acura leaving its lane of travel remains unknown, and the crash is under investigation.
