Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision in Orange County last night that resulted in the death of a driver and three passengers.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 10:52 pm, a 2024 Toyota Camry driven by a 20-year-old Kissimmee man and a 2024 BMW M2 driven by a 26-year-old Orlando man were traveling eastbound on Central Florida Parkway in the outside lane east of Whitley Place.
As they approached, the Toyota was in front of the BMW, and both were traveling above the posted speed limit. The BMW was attempting to overtake the Toyota by changing lanes from the outside to the inside lane. As the second vehicle attempted to re-enter the outside lane, its right side collided with the front of the first vehicle.
The impact caused both vehicles to run off the roadway onto the south shoulder. As a result, the front of the first vehicle struck a light pole and several trees and ejected a passenger from the back seat. As the second vehicle traveled south on the shoulder, it also struck several trees.
The driver of the first vehicle was transported to Orlando Health/Dr. Phillips Hospital with serious injuries. A passenger (male - pending identification) and the driver of the second vehicle were pronounced deceased at the crash scene.
A passenger in the back seat of the first vehicle (an 18-year-old Windermere man) and the front passenger of the second vehicle (a 23-year-old Orlando woman) were transported to Orlando Health Dr. Phillips Hospital and later pronounced deceased.
The crash remains under investigation.
The FHP did not release the names of the drivers or passengers involved in the crash.
