Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a hit-and-run collision last night in Orange County that resulted in the death of a driver.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 8:59 pm, a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado driven by a 54-year-old Orlando man was traveling northbound on Lansing Street approaching State Road 50.
At the same time, a 2012 Toyota Highlander driven by a 48-year-old Orlando man was traveling eastbound on SR-50 approaching Lansing Street.
The sequence of events that led to this collision is still under investigation. The right rear tire of the first vehicle struck the left side of the second vehicle, which caused it to rotate, and the driver was ejected and landed in the eastbound lane of SR-50.
A third vehicle, a 2014 Nissan Rogue driven by a 24-year-old Mims man, was traveling eastbound on SR-50 when it collided with a large crate that had fallen from the first vehicle's truck bed.
A fourth unknown vehicle was traveling eastbound in the inside lane and struck the driver of the second vehicle who was laying in the roadway.
The driver then failed to remain at the scene of the crash.
The driver of the first vehicle was transported to AdventHealth Waterford Hospital with minor injuries.
The driver of the second vehicle was pronounced deceased at the crash scene.
The driver of the third vehicle reported no injuries to the FHP.

The FHP did not release the names of the drivers involved in the collision.
