A 25-year-old man from Titusville was killed early Thursday morning after his vehicle left the roadway, overturned, and became submerged in a canal in Brevard County.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol report, the crash occurred around 2 a.m. on April 16 along Blackpoint Wildlife Drive, south of L Pond Road.
Investigators said the driver was traveling northbound when he failed to negotiate a left-hand curve. The vehicle began rotating counterclockwise before running off the roadway to the right.
As the vehicle left the road, it overturned and entered a nearby canal, where it became completely submerged with its roof above water.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 43-year-old female passenger, also from Titusville, suffered minor injuries and was transported to Parrish Medical Center for treatment.
Authorities noted that the vehicle's make and model had not yet been identified at the time of the report, as it remained submerged and had not been recovered.
The crash remains under investigation.
