Breaking News Overnight: Driver dies after collision with tractor-trailer in Orange County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision in Orange County this morning that resulted in the death of a driver.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 12:19 am, a 2011 Mercedes Benz E-Class sedan driven by a 39-year-old Orlando woman with a passenger (a 33-year-old Orlando man) was traveling westbound on Landstreet Road approaching County Road 527 (Orange Avenue) in the inside lane.

At the same time, a 2022 International semi-tractor-trailer driven by a 32-year-old Manchester, GA man was stopped facing west for a steady red traffic signal light on Landstreet in the inside lane at the intersection of Orange Avenue.

As it approached, the first vehicle's driver failed to observe the tractor-trailer ahead and collided with its rear.

The driver and passenger were transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center. The driver was later pronounced deceased. According to the report, the passenger suffered serious injuries. The second vehicle's driver did not report any injuries to the FHP.

The crash remains under investigation

The FHP did not release the names of the drivers or passengers involved in the collision.
