Breaking News Overnight: Driver dies after a two-vehicle collision in Volusia County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision last night in Volusia County that resulted in the death of a driver.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 11:27 pm, a 2025 Hyundai Sonata and a 2023 semi-truck with a trailer driven by a 50-year-old Yulee man were traveling northbound on I-95 south of W Indian River Blvd in the center lane. The semi was ahead of the first vehicle.

As they advanced, the driver of the first vehicle failed to stop for the semi-truck, resulting in a collision. The driver of the first vehicle (an adult male - pending confirmation by the FHP) was pronounced deceased at the crash scene. The semi driver did not report any injuries to the FHP.

The crash remains under investigation. 

The FHP did not release the names of the drivers involved in the crash.
