Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a three-vehicle collision last night in Citrus County that resulted in the death of two passengers.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 9 pm, a Ford F250 driven by a 27-year-old Lecanto man was traveling southbound on US-19.
At the same time, a Buick Enclave, driven by a 73-year-old Iowa man, was traveling northbound on US-19.
At the intersection of West Venable Street, the first vehicle turned left into the path of the second vehicle and struck it.
After the initial impact, the first vehicle overturned and came to rest on the shoulder of the roadway while the second vehicle was redirected into the path of and struck a Dodge 2500 driven by a 20-year-old Weeki Wachee man, traveling southbound.
Two passengers traveling in the second vehicle suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash.
The FHP did not release the names of the drivers or passengers involved in the crash.
