Breaking News Overnight: Driver dies after a single-vehicle collision in Sarasota County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a single-vehicle collision in Charlotte County Thursday afternoon, resulting in the death of a driver.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 5:46 pm, a 31-year-old Bradenton man driving a pickup truck exited the private driveway of the University Club located at Lockwood Ridge Road and Nature Circle after being involved in a traffic crash.
The pickup drove over the grassy median that separates north and southbound travel lanes of Lockwood Ridge Road, crossed over the southern travel lanes of Lockwood Ridge Road, and entered the grassy shoulder, where the front of the vehicle struck a telephone pole.
The driver was pronounced deceased on-scene by Sarasota County EMS.
The Florida Highway Patrol Traffic Homicide Unit continues to investigate this traffic crash.
The FHP did not release the driver's name involved in the crash.
