Breaking News Overnight: Driver dies after a single-vehicle collision in Marion County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a single-vehicle collision last night in Marion County that resulted in the death of a driver.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 9:31 pm, a sedan driven by a 44-year-old Summerfield woman was traveling northbound on SE 47th Ave.

As she advanced, the driver went over a hill and lost control, causing the vehicle to rotate clockwise. The vehicle left the roadway to the right, the left side collided with a fence line, went airborne, and overturned, colliding with a standing tree.

The driver was transported to the hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.

This incident remains under investigation.

The FHP did not release the name of the driver involved in the collision.
