Breaking News Overnight: Driver dies after a single-vehicle collision in Marion County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a single-vehicle collision this morning in Marion County that resulted in the death of the driver.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 2:42 a.m., a sedan driven by a 41-year-old Umatilla man was traveling eastbound on County Road 42, entering a curve in the roadway.
As he approached, the driver failed to negotiate the curve, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway onto the south grass shoulder and collide with a sign, fence, and tree.
He was pronounced deceased on the scene by Marion County Fire Rescue.
In this report, the FHP did not release the driver's name involved in the collision.
