From the Florida Highway Patrol
Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a single-vehicle collision this morning in Lake County that resulted in the death of the driver.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 1:17 am, a 2000 Ford F-250 pickup truck driven by a 51-year-old Astatula man was traveling westbound on County Road 450 approaching Babb Road.
As he advanced, the driver failed to negotiate a curve and ran off the roadway into the treeline. The vehicle began rotating and struck a tree, partially ejecting the driver from the pickup.
The driver was pronounced deceased at the crash scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
The FHP did not release the name of the driver involved in the collision.
