Breaking News Overnight: Bradenton woman killed after car strikes tree in Manatee County

A 38-year-old Bradenton woman was killed early Friday morning after her car left the roadway and struck a tree in Manatee County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The single-vehicle crash occurred at approximately midnight July 31 near the intersection of 9th Street East and 50th Avenue Drive East.

According to FHP, the woman was driving a gray 2021 Honda Civic south in the right lane of 9th Street East, south of 50th Avenue Drive East.

Troopers said the Civic veered to the left, crossed the left travel lane and drove over the center median curb. The car then collided with an oak tree in the median.

The driver was the vehicle’s only occupant. Manatee County Emergency Medical Services pronounced her dead at the scene.

The Florida Highway Patrol Traffic Homicide Unit continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
