An 82-year-old Lady Lake woman was killed Tuesday evening after being struck by a vehicle while walking along a roadway in Lake County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred at approximately 7:27 pm near Vermont Avenue and Wales Place.

According to FHP, an 83-year-old Lady Lake man was driving a 2012 Dodge Journey west on Vermont Avenue as the woman walked west along the roadway.

Troopers said the driver did not see the pedestrian before the front-right portion of the SUV struck her.

The woman was transported to UF Health The Villages Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Her next of kin has been notified.

The driver was not injured, remained at the scene and was not transported to a hospital.

FHP continues to investigate the crash.
