A woman was killed Thursday morning after she was struck by a van while attempting to cross Pine Lakes Parkway in Palm Coast, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred at approximately 8 am on Pine Lakes Parkway near Wellington Drive in Flagler County. Troopers said a 91-year-old Palm Coast man was driving a van eastbound on Pine Lakes Parkway when the pedestrian attempted to cross the roadway directly in the vehicle's path.

According to the FHP, the front of the van struck the pedestrian, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman's identity has not been released as authorities work to notify her next of kin.

The driver was wearing a seat belt and was not injured in the crash, according to the report.

The roadway was temporarily closed following the collision while investigators processed the scene. The Florida Highway Patrol said the crash remains under investigation.
