Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision in Sumter County this morning that resulted in the death of a driver.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 10:06 am, a Honda Accord, driven by a 27-year-old Inverness man, was traveling eastbound on CR-462.
At the same time, a Volvo SUV, driven by a 61-year-old Georgia man, was traveling southbound on I-75.
For unknown reasons, the first driver lost control of his vehicle, which left CR-462, struck the I-75 overpass, and collided with the second vehicle.
After the crash, the second vehicle traveled to its final rest along the outside shoulder of the interstate while the first vehicle came to rest in the southbound travel lanes.
The driver of the first vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash, while the second driver suffered minor injuries.
The FHP did not release the names of the drivers involved in the collision.
