Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a collision this morning in Sumter County that resulted in the death of a pedestrian.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 5:50 a.m., a GMC pickup truck, driven by a 39-year-old Summerfield man, was traveling northbound on CR-475.
At the same time, an Acura sedan, driven by a 35-year-old man from The Villages, was traveling northbound on CR-475 behind the pickup.
As they approached, a pedestrian walking along the roadway shoulder attempted to cross the highway north of CR-466, entered the path and was struck by the two vehicles in successive order.
After the collision, both vehicles came to a controlled stop, and neither driver suffered injuries.
The pedestrian, a 62-year-old Ocala man, suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash.
The FHP did not release the names of the drivers or pedestrian involved in the crash.
