Breaking Morning News: Motorcyclist dies after collision with pickup truck in Brevard County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision in Brevard County this morning that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 6:25 am a 2001 Ford Ranger pickup truck with a boat trailer attached driven by a 68-year-old Malabar man was traveling southbound on US-1 north of 1st Street in the left turn lane.

At the same time, a 2021 Indian Motorcycle driven by a 56-year-old Vero Beach man was traveling northbound on US-1 north of 1st Street in the inside lane.

As they approached, the pickup truck made a left turn in the direct path of the motorcycle. As a result, the motorcycle struck the trailer.

The motorcyclist was transported to Orlando Health-Sebastian emergency room and pronounced deceased.

The pickup truck driver did not report any injuries to the FHP.

The crash remains under investigation.

The FHP did not release the names of the motorcyclist or driver who were involved in the collision.
