Breaking Morning News: FHP looking for hit-and-run driver involved in a fatal collision with a pedestrian in Orange County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a collision this morning in Orange County that resulted in the death of a pedestrian and a driver who fled the scene.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 6:06 am, an unknown vehicle was traveling eastbound on Colonial Drive approaching Dean Road. 

At the same time, a 56-year-old Brooksville man was walking north on Colonial Drive, west of Dean Road, not in a marked crosswalk.

As it approached, the right side of the vehicle collided with the pedestrian, and the driver fled the scene.

The pedestrian was transported to AdventHealth East Orlando and pronounced deceased. 

Troopers located vehicle parts at the scene. The vehicle is possibly a maroon Acura TL or MDX, possibly between 2007 and 2010.  The vehicle should be missing the right (passenger) side mirror and have damage on the front bumper.

The crash remains under investigation.

The FHP did not release the name of the deceased pedestrian.
