Breaking Morning News: Driver dies after single-vehicle collision in Volusia County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a single-vehicle collision this morning in Volusia County that resulted in the death of the driver.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 5:04 am, a 2009 Toyota Corolla driven by a 27-year-old Edgewater man was traveling southbound on Edgewater Canal Road approaching the intersection of Massey Road when the driver continued traveling south off the roadway. As a result, the front of the vehicle collided with the embankment on the south shoulder of the intersection.

After the collision, the driver was pronounced deceased on the scene.

This crash remains under investigation.

The FHP did not release the driver's name involved in the crash.
