From the Florida Highway Patrol
Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a single-vehicle collision this morning in Sumter County that resulted in the death of the driver.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 4:51 a.m., a Kia Forte, driven by a 30-year-old Inverness man, was traveling westbound on State Road 44.
West of County Road 475, the driver failed to negotiate a curve, departed the roadway, and collided with a utility pole and a barbed wire fence.
The unrestrained driver suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash.
The FHP did not release the driver's name involved in the crash.
