Breaking News Overnight: Motorcyclist hit and killed by vehicle in Marion County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision this morning in Marion County that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 2:55 a.m., a sedan driven by a 21-year-old Ocklawaha man and a motorcycle driven by a 47-year-old Belleview man were traveling east on County Road 25. The sedan approached the slower-moving motorcycle from the rear and struck its rear section with its front section, forcing it off the roadway.

The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced deceased on the scene, and the driver of the sedan was transported to an area hospital for medical treatment with minor injuries, according to the report.

In this report, the FHP did not release the names of the driver or motorcyclist involved in the collision.
