Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a collision this morning in Brevard County that resulted in the death of a pedestrian.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 10:21 pm, a 90-year-old Merritt Island man driving a 2017 Hyundai Ioniq was traveling southbound on Stadium Parkway approaching the intersection of North Wickham Road in the outside lane.
At the same time, a 77-year-old Melbourne man riding a bicycle was traveling westbound on North Wickham Road approaching the intersection of Stadium Parkway in the bicycle lane.
As they approached, the driver advised FHP he had a green traffic light and continued through the intersection. The bicyclist entered the vehicle's path, and they collided.
Whether the vehicle had a green traffic light during the collision is still under investigation.
The driver of the vehicle reported no injuries to the FHP and remained on scene.
The bicyclist was transported to Holmes Regional Hospital and pronounced deceased.
The crash remains under investigation.
The FHP did not release the names of the driver or the bicyclist involved in the collision.
